In the English section of the webpage are ONLY the procedures applicable to foreign citizens. The procedures applicable to Romanian citizens (pasports, Notary Acts, Civil status documents, clarifying, regaining and renouncing the Romanian citizenship, etc.) are ONLY in Romanian language, in the Romanian section of our webpage, due to processing them afterwards in Romania, where Romanian language is mandatory.



The Consular section of the Embassy covers only the following US States: Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. For other States, the request will be addressed to the competent Romanian consulate, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or Miami, according to their jurisdiction.

By decission of the Government of Romania, August 16 and 17 are declared holidays and, therefore, the Consular section in Washington will be closed.
